Is 2022 CBUM better than what we saw on stage at the 2021 Classic Physique Olympia? With only a few days to go before the 2022 Mr. Olympia competition, we are going to examine Chris Bumstead’s physique from 2 similar arm workout videos he posted on his YouTube channel about a year apart.

Chris Bumstead, otherwise known as CBUM, is an IFBB Classic Physique Professional bodybuilder from Canada and 3-time Classic Physique Olympia reigning champion. Over the past year, Chris has endured everything from injuries to working with a new coach, Hany Rambod. Hany Rambod, nicknamed “The Pro Creator,” is an American strength and conditioning coach and nutritionist. He is best known for his work with professional bodybuilding’s major names and as one of the foremost authorities in bodybuilding.

The first thing we notice when comparing the arm workouts, is the apparent muscle maturity progress Chris seems to have experienced. When a bodybuilder experiences this muscle maturity, more pronounced striations, skin thickness decrease, and muscle detailing can completely level up a physique. It seems like we will be experiencing the transition between baby CBUM to Mature CBUM. As we see in the latest arm workout video, everything from his biceps, triceps, and delts, seems to have improved through muscle maturity.

However, the only true concern I have is his legs. Chris experienced some leg injuries earlier this year and we have not seen much from his lower body over the past year. This could be just speculation but it’s important to note as injuries tend to get in the way of a bodybuilder’s career. We also have not seen Chris post any leg teasers whatsoever this year. Usually, he posts somewhat of a teaser even if the photos have poor lighting, but this year we have not seen much at all.

It seems like we will see a similar or slightly improved CBUM upper body in this 2022 Olympia. Lower body wise, we do not have much data to examine and we hope his injuries do not hold him back from cementing his dynasty and getting his 4th consecutive Classic Physique Olympia title.

Do you think Chris looks better than he did last year?
