Only a few days out from the 2022 Olympia Classic Physique weigh-ins, 2 out of the 3 top competitors have yet to get close to the weight cap. Will these guys make the weight limit? Absolutely. But at what cost?

Ramon Dino has 6+ pounds to go before the weigh-ins on Wednesday night. Although he will most likely make weight, how will this affect his look on stage? Competitors have about 48 hours after weigh-ins to re-hydrate, carb up, and dry out before stepping on stage. That is not a lot of time at all. Drastic weight cutting before having to prepare for stepping on stage is not optimal. If Ramon was much closer to his weight cap, he wouldn’t have to rehydrate before carbing up, but because he is so depleted, 48 hours might not be enough time for him to be in tip-top shape come stage time.

Chris Bumstead is the current 3-time, reigning Classic Physique Olympia champion. During a conversation with Urs Kalecinski, they discussed their weight status. During this dialogue, Urs, who was recently over the weight cap by 20+ pounds, mentions he has already made weight ahead of weigh-ins on Wednesday night. However, Chris mentions he has not made weight yet. It is unclear in past Olympia’s how far from his weight limit Chris tends to be around peak week, but this is very concerning.

Urs is at a good place where he can cruise right through the weigh-ins. Chris is rumored to be 4-6 lbs away from the weight cap. Given Chris’ autoimmune disease, this is not a good thing because his body could decide to retain water and fight the depletion he has to go through in order to make weight. Chris and Ramone have to be very careful peaking for stage. Especially Chris, because not only does he have an autoimmune disease, he’s also working with a new coach, Hany Rambod, who might not have experienced working with competitors with this type of medical condition.

Do you think this is going to affect Chris and Ramone? What are your 2022 Classic Physique Olympia predictions?
