2017 Mr. USA and 2021 Olympia 212 title holder, Derek Lunsford, is a bodybuilding competitor who is one of the best in the world in the 212 division. However, for the first time ever, Derek will be competing in the Open Class this upcoming week! I predict Derek is going to be in the Top Six at the Open Division Olympia this year.
Why did Hany jump on a plane and go see Derek 2 weeks out from the Olympia? Is he concerned or impressed? Hany Rambod, nicknamed “The Pro Creator,” is an American strength and conditioning coach and nutritionist. He is best known for his work with professional bodybuilding’s major names and as one of the foremost authorities in bodybuilding. Hany has put a lot of pressure on himself, if these guys don’t look good, he will get blamed for it, especially if Chris Bumstead, otherwise known as CBUM, an IFBB Classic Physique Professional bodybuilder from Canada and 3 time Classic Physique Olympia reigning champion, loses.
Will Hany be able to make sure that both Derek and Chris are on point? Derek’s biggest concern was his chest, shoulders and arms. Will they be as visibly hard and lean as his backside?
Derek will probably be 25-30 lbs heavier than he was last year. He is visibly harder, leaner and more full than he ever was in the 212 class.
This year it’s all about dieting and preserving muscle as best as possible so you can be big, hard, lean and separated as possible when competing in the open class as its very different from competing in the 212.
Unlike most guys, Derek’s chest is very balanced with his front delt, which makes him look very full and complete across the top of his body.
Derek has never looked this good. He has a lot of vascularity and detail. His mindset is amazing, and has a lot of potential.
Do you think Derek did enough in that last 14 months to be in the top six?
